At one point, Ms. Gladys was a normal human, running the Nevada Public Library, before the Fall. However, sometime after it, she was Kidnapped by unknown people, and experimented on, transformed into what she calls “A Disgrace to the Best.” Or an Owl and Human hybrid. After a long period of testing and more experimentation to improve on what she already was, she was released into Nevada once again, as if she was experimented on for the hell of it and released so she would be killed, or otherwise disposed of. However, she survived, growing used to her owl-like body, and finding use in her talons and wings. She would survive for three months, before finally arriving somewhere she recognized. Her old Library, somehow still mostly intact in spite of all that’s happened. She returned inside to find the great majority of the Books still intact and in their places, as if nobody had used the library as a hiding place or base, which would make sense since it’s so large. Overtime, she Fixed up the Place, somehow convincing a single other book loving grunt to work with her.
